Bitton Celebrates Its 10th Year Anniversary In 2010
Bitton Gourmet was created from a little dream my wife Sohani and I had, of running a small café, something we could call our own. We were both at the peak of our corporate careers when we decided to give it all up and start afresh.
Both of us, with vast Food and Beverage knowledge in five star establishments, thought that it would be easy to run a small cafe. With no business plan, staff and vision we set off to conquer the world! We thought it would be a walk in the park.
After a few months of trading, the dream slowly became reality when we were faced with the difficulties of finding loyal staff, competing for business with established cafes and the financial hardship. However, we were not going to give up, with the help of our friend and business partner Gaby (who came on board a year after we opened), we went back to the basics: by day we focused on our customers, ensuring that the small amount of people that came in our doors would return and by night we concentrated on developing our Bitton Product range, ensuring it’s quality and taste would be consistent in every jar.
Just looking at where we are today, we have come such a long way. We have 12 gourmet products that are stocked in over 450 stores all over Australia and in 6 countries overseas. We can now look back and see that from that first year when 90% of the business failed, we have now built a name for ourselves, a reputation. We have built a beautiful café and grocer for which customers come to enjoy an experience like no other.
Undoubtedly when starting your own business mistakes will happen, but as long as you learn from them, have a plan ( and stick to it), use your resources and people around you, focus on the customer and have the passion...the sky is the limit!.
