Bitton Gourmet:: Gourmet Food Store

French-born chef, David Bitton made his mark on the Australian food scene in a series of five star restaurants and now with his Bitton Gourmet range.

After starting his career in Paris, David left France's regimented and traditional industry to experiment and innovate with food. He made his mark in establishments such as "Le Festival" and the Carlton Hotel in Cannes.

Seventeen years ago, David arrived in Australia on Anzac Day. He went on to work at the Hotel Windsor in Melbourne, the Treasury at the Intercontinental in Sydney, and La Fontaine at Hayman Island. David was Master Chef at Sydney's famed restaurant, Gekko, at the Sheraton at the Park and opened the first fine dining restaurant at Fox Studios.

Inspired by the jams he and wife Sohani would enjoy on their holidays to the New South Wales South Coast, David decided to create a range of quality jams, oils, tapenades and marinades to help home cooks create their own fine dining experience.

Launched in 2000, the Bitton Gourmet range has gone on to be one of David Jones' best selling chef brands. It is stocked in fine food outlets such as Essential Ingredient, Fine Food Store, Food Stuff, Ziggy's and via mail order company, Hunter Gatherer International.

For the past five years, David's passion for offering Australians exciting food has been evident at his Bitton Gourmet Café in Alexandria, Sydney where he merges the best elements of French and Australian cuisine.
